The Making of Moby Dick
While not necessarily an attraction but should be of great interest to many was the classic movie adaptation of John Huston’s Moby Dick was filmed in Youghal and its fair to say that the filming of some of the scenes back in 1954 caused something of a stir, so much so that there’s now even a sculpture to commemorate the event.
Take a walk around this old port and imagine what it must have felt to have such a huge movie star like Gregory Peck in their mists, who knows you may even bump in to some of the extras that took part in the movie back then, or why not stop for lunch in the renowned Moby Dick Bar which was once used as an office for John Huston while making the film.
